HADES Drummer Undergoes Operation To Remove Cancerous Tumor
June 13, 2003HADES drummer Ron Lipnicki underwent a 10-hour operation Thursday (June 12) to remove a cancerous tumor. According to HADES guitarist Dan Lorenzo, the doctors were very happy with how everything went during the operation, which followed three months of chemotherapy.
"Last Sunday (June 8) Jimmy Schulman (former HADES bassist),myself and Ron jammed on old KISS songs just for fun and Ron played and hit as hard as ever," Dan said. "This from a man who just a month ago was still undergoing chemotherapy.
"Before the operation, the doctors were worried they might have to remove one of Ron's kidneys, but thank God that wasn't necessary," he continued. "Ron will be recovering in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital [in New Brunswick, New Jersey] for the next 10 days."
Lipnicki joined HADES in August 2000, prior to the recording of the group's last studio effort, 2001's "DamNation". HADES' debut CD, "Resisting Success", came out in 1987.
