HAMMERFALL Announce One-Off Hometown Gig
November 19, 2004Swedish metallers HAMMERFALL will play at Scandinavium in Gothenburg (Göteborg),Sweden on April 30. "It's the only show we will do in Sweden this spring, and is part of a 5-10 gig swing we call the Icebreaker Festivals," guitarist Oscar Dronjak writes on the group's web site. "Apparently, no other band from Göteborg has headlined a show in this arena, which incidently is the home of one of Sweden's best ice-hockey teams: Frölunda Indians.
"I have many, many wonderful concert memories from this place, as I have seen both JUDAS PRIEST and MÖTLEY CRÜE at the height of their greatness there, as well as ALICE COOPER and IRON MAIDEN. But also things like the World Championship of table tennis and Harlem Globetrotters have drawn my attention through the years. But, I digress. Anyway, it is a legitmate dream come true for everyone in the band, as I'm sure we all have wondered more than once what it would be like to perform in this legendary venue.
"Other cities and venues will be announced shortly but, as I said, this will be the only Swedish show. We'll have three other bands on the bill, but none of them are confirmed as of yet, so stay tuned for more info. Cheers!"
