INFERNAL COMBUSTION Announces Partnership With ROADRUNNER RECORDS

Infernal Combustion, the satirical heavy metal webzine often called "The Onion of metal," announced last week that it has partnered with leading hard rock label Roadrunner Records. Under the new deal, Roadrunner will design and host the site, which has been relaunched in a weekly format, while founder Keith Bergman maintains total editorial control.

"The two big problems the old IC site had were poor design, and constantly late updates, which were partially due again to the cumbersome design process," Bergman said. "Now, with Roadrunner's help, the site has been given a total makeover — it actually looks like a real site — and my henchmen and I are freed up to just write stupid shit, which is what we plan to do."

Every Monday, the new Infernal Combustion site will launch a new issue containing five mock "news" pieces, plus album reviews. Bergman vows that the relentless, sometimes controversial style of IC will not be watered down, and that no one — including Roadrunner, its bands, or IC staffers themselves — is immune to mockery. "It's business as usual, writing-wise. We're still sarcastic assholes, we just have a site that doesn't look like garbage any more."

The original Infernal Combustion debuted in 1999, as a more-or-less monthly web zine, and it has attracted attention from members of METALLICA, ANTHRAX and DOKKEN, as well as hate mail from around the globe. Bergman and senior contributing writer Mark Tinta plan to compile the site's past content in book form, for release some time around the end of 2003.
