IRON MAIDEN Drummer To Appear At VOICES OF EXTREME Show In Massachusetts Tonight

July 8, 2006

Jason Abbruzzese of Sentinel & Enterprise is reporting that IRON MAIDEN drummer Nicko McBrain will be in Gardner, Massachusetts on Central Street tonight (July 8) but without his bandmates.

McBrain is co-managing VOICES OF EXTREME (V.O.X.),who will rock the Brickhouse to help celebrate the Boardwalk Revival Party

McBrain, who is managing V.O.X. with David Swales, said he looks forward to what should be an excellent show.

"They're just a really strong rock band," McBrain said during a telephone interview Friday. "They've got great music and great stage presence."

V.O.X. formed after McBrain's friend, bass player Bob Brennan and guitarist Nick Gertsson met while Brennan and McBrain were in Florida.

"I've known Bobby [Brennan] 16 years," McBrain said. "I was with him the night he met Nick [Gertsson], the guitarist."

"The next thing I know they're playing in a band together with the singer and the drummer," he said.

McBrain, who has drummed for IRON MAIDEN since 1983, said that although the music is not identical to his work with the English band, fans will find many of the same traits in V.O.X. that helped IRON MAIDEN sell more than 70 million records worldwide.

"They're like [IRON MAIDEN] in the attitude that they take to their music and to their fans," McBrain said. "The music isn't the same style as [IRON] MAIDEN, although it has a hard edge to it and a lot of progressive stuff."
