JACKYL Partners Up With ADULT SWIM For Animated TV Series 'Squidbillies'
July 14, 2010Who better to pen a song for an animated family of anthropomorphic hillbilly squids living in the Appalachian region of North Georgia's mountains than the Georgia-based rock act JACKYL?
Adult Swim has certainly hit the nail on the head by assigning Jesse James Dupree, along with fellow JACKYL band members, guitarist Jeff Worley, bassist Roman Glick, and drummer Chris Worley, to write an original song to be used in an upcoming episode of the "Squidbillies" animated TV series, currently in its fourth season.
The exclusive track, "Raised By Jackyl", will be featured in the 30-minute all-star musical episode, "America: Why I Love Her", scheduled to air on July 18 at 12 a.m. ET/PT. In addition to the track, the creators of the show have transformed the members of JACKYL into animated characters who interact in the world of the Squidbillies.
The animated members of JACKYL find themselves raising Rusty, the neglected son of Squidbillies patriarch Early Cuyler. They do everything from potty training, teaching him karate, immunizing him, feeding him, and of course, singing him to sleep complete with Dupree's signature chainsaw. As the song progresses, you come to realize that they're training him to be a roadie for the band: teaching him how to run the soundboard, drive the tour bus, and how to court a groupie.
Dupree had this to say about the bands involvement, "I feel a sense of pride being able to contribute to young Rusty's growth, and confident we have steered him down the righteous path of the dirty dirty. Puh-Pow!"
