JAMES HETFIELD, VINCE NEIL Get Charitable

July 14, 2004

James Hetfield (METALLICA) and Vince Neil (MÖTLEY CRÜE) are among the musicians who have donated jackets and guitar straps used to make a limited collection of one-of-a-kind Nixon watches, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting MAP (Musicians Assistance Program). "What started out as the LTD Collection, a unique, limited collection of watches and wallets made from vintage leather jackets we found in Southern California thrift shops, turned personal when we started receiving leather jackets and guitar straps from our famous friends," Nixon said in a statement. "With the opportunity to produce pieces with this much history, we decided to put them on a pedestal and turn them into their own limited collection." Other musicians, athletes, artists and actors who have donated jackets and guitar straps include Flea (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS),Tom Dumont (NO DOUBT),NEW FOUND GLORY, Richie Sambora (BON JOVI),professional skateboarders Tony Hawk and Paul Rodriguez, The Rock-n-Roll Chef, Kenna, Milo Ventimiglia (TV and film actor),European snowboarding star Romain DeMarchi, entertainer/artist Renee Renee, and indie sensations NHOI, Backlip and Kut U Up.

Watches from this collection will be available late summer 2004 in 10 select retail locations worldwide at stores such as Fred Segal (LA),Belmont Army Surplus (CHI) and Barneys (NYC).
