JIMI HENDRIX's Brother Says Sex Tape Is Fake

May 5, 2008

Jimi Hendrix's younger brother, Leon Hendrix, has issued a statement claiming that a purported sex tape of the musician being sold on the Internet was not authentic.

"The person in that film is not Jimi from what I have heard," said Leon. "Yes, he had many female fans during that time and some may have been filmed. But this one is not Jimi Hendrix."

Experience Hendrix, the company that controls rights to Jimi Hendrix's music and likeness also questioned the tape's authenticity, stating, "We view the release as nothing more than a callous attempt to trade on the image and reputation of a deceased artist who is unable to defend himself against such an outrageous and baseless assertion."

Last week, Los Angeles-based adult video company Vivid Entertainment released a 45-minute DVD that includes 11 minutes of roughly 40-year-old film footage showing a man resembling Hendrix cavorting with two unidentified brunettes in a dimly lit bedroom.

Leon Hendrix, 58, was cut out of his brother's $80 million estate several years ago.

His father, Al Hendrix, died in 2002 and left the estate largely to his daughter, Janie Hendrix. In September 2004, Leon Hendrix lost his legal appeal for a portion of it in Seattle, the family's hometown.
