JOURNEY's JONATHAN CAIN Says The Band's New Album Was Effortless
May 27, 2008The Pulse of Radio reports that JOURNEY keyboardist and songwriter Jonathan Cain says that sessions for the band's upcoming album "Revelation" came much easier than most of their others.
"Revelation", which will be released on June 3 as a double CD through Wal-Mart, includes one disc featuring the band and new lead singer Arnel Pineda re-recording such JOURNEY classics as "Don't Stop Believin'", "Open Arms", "Wheel In The Sky", "Lights", and others, along with an 11-track new collection of songs.
Jonathan Cain says that the new material included as part of "Revelation" snowballed from being only a few new studio tracks into a full-fledged new album in very short order. "Wal-Mart was sitting there, we were kind of wondering about it," he says. "There was a lot of mixed emotions, you know re-recording the greatest hits, certainly. Then it was like, 'Well, we'll put three new songs or four new songs on it, and then Neal (Schon) rallied for a whole album. And the next thing I know, we're scrambling (laughs) to get music together which seemed effortless. I guess that was the surprising part of it that we came up with a pretty decent sounding album in a very short period of time."
"Revelation" also comes with a bonus DVD featuring songs filmed at JOURNEY's March 8 concert in Las Vegas.
JOURNEY kicks off a series of UK dates on June 17 London in London at the Apollo Hammersmith. They'll hit the road in the U.S. with HEART and CHEAP TRICK on July 9 in Englewood, Colorado at Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre.
