KATAKLYSM To Launch Fresh Touring Campaign, Pursue Outside Projects
September 2, 2002Canadian death metallers KATAKLYSM have just returned from the Death Across America tour and are preparing to embark on a full-scale coast to coast Canadian tour in September/October, with support coming via Montreal's NECRONOMICON and Toronto's BLOOD OF CHRIST. Exact dates and venues will be announced shortly.
According to an official press release, the Shadows & Dust touring campaign will start in late November with a month-long European tour where the band will hit the UK, France, Spain and Portugal with HATE ETERNAL and DERANGED, followed by the X-Mass Festivals (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium and Holland) with SIX FEET UNDER, MARDUK, DYING FETUS, HATE ETERNAL, IMMOLATION, MACABRE and RAGNAROK.
KATAKLYSM is also in talks to shoot a video clip for the song "Beyond Salvation" in Regina (Alberta) during their upcoming Canadian tour. More details to follow.
In other KATAKLYSM-related news, guitarist/producer Jean-Francois Dagenais is presently in Tampa, Florida putting the final touches on the mix for MALEVOLENT CREATION's forthcoming album, The Will to Kill.
Due to legal circumstances, KATAKLYSM frontman Maurizio Iacono's solo project L.O.S.T. has changed names to STAMINA and has left former management Hypnotic. STAMINA is working on its second demo with Columbia/Sony writer/producer Ashton Price (KAZZER, MELINDA SHANK). The band has already performed a successful showcase gig for Dave McPheerson of Epic Records.
"It's been a really busy year with KATAKLYSM and STAMINA," said Maurizio. "I had to take some serious decisions about my career. We've had great success lately with KATAKLYSM and the interest for my solo project STAMINA has been overwhelming. Epic, among others, expressed interest in STAMINA (L.O.S.T.) and turned around everything I did to make us sound like a LINKIN PARK/P.O.D. type of band. I knew I had to get out of there — it's not me. I refuse to be manipulated like a puppet, I'd rather sign to an [independent label] that understands what I'm doing rather than a major who doesn't give a shit about what I am or want. STAMINA is a metal band, not fucking pop! I thank writer Ashton Price for believing in this project and for sticking with me no matter what".
STAMINA will be shopping their second demo in early 2003. The band continues to write in between KATAKLYSM tours for their forthcoming debut album, Tales From The Gutter.
