KING'S X Frontman Featured On BLACK SUGAR TRANSMISSION Track; Audio Available

May 1, 2008

KING'S X frontman Doug Pinnick has recorded a guest appearance on the track "Runnin' Like a Dog" from BLACK SUGAR TRANSMISSION, the Brooklyn, New York-based project led by singer/songwriter Andee Hinds.

Commented Hinds: "The original idea of this song was kind of experimental I wanted to make a track almost entirely of orchestral samples I'd pulled out of my classical record collection. I added a really big beat, a few synth parts, chimes and other atmospheric soundesign to it but most of the instrumental section is an intricate patchwork of samples I cobbled together (there are over 70 tracks of audio in this song!). I wrote the vocal melody and some lyrics and then a lightbulb went off: 'I should ask fucking Doug Pinnick to sing on this!' I could totally hear him singing the second verse.... and besides, he is one of my biggest heroes ever, one of the greatest and most gifted rock singers to walk the earth, and one of the most righteous dudes, period. I have always wanted to work with him in some capacity. So I asked. And he answered thusly: 'I would be honored!' Whoa. You don't know how huge this is for me. Anyway, I sent him a rough mix with the lyrics and some notes on what I was looking for. And he sent back the bloodcurdling take you hear in verse two, plus all the chorus vocals. He fucking KILLED! His performance was exactly what I wanted and more. I swear, when it comes to singers, few are as pure and real as Doug Pinnick. The man is walking soul. I am not worthy! I wanted the choruses to be really choir-like and epic, so I got Dan and Matt from BULLY, plus my old friend Alisa B (one badass mofo who has worked with the almighty PRINCE) to add their mighty voices to the mix. Matt sings lead vocal with me in the first verse, and that's Alisa singing with me on the bridge. We all sang the choruses. And now I can die happy. Hope you enjoy the song. For me? It's a personal high point of my life."

BLACK SUGAR TRANSMISSION's self-titled debut album features the drumming talents of Jerry Gaskill (KING'S X).
