KISS: Original Marvel Comics Super Special Painting To Be Auctioned
March 28, 2006The original KISS cover art painting for Marvel Comics Super Special with graded CGC copy of the same issue is being auctioned off on eBay this Friday, March 31 beginning at 12:00 PST. Painted by Alan Weiss and Gray Morrow, this wonderful artwork, accomplished with mixed media, was used for the wrap-around cover of Marvel Comics Super Special #1, issued in September 1977. Housed in a custom frame, measuring 39" x 31 1/2", it lso includes a 9.6 graded CGC copy of the issue. It is said that the ink used to print the issue contained drops of the bandmembers' blood! Expected price is between $8,000 and $10,000. Also being auctioned is the silver lame screen-worn hooded cloak custom-made and worn by Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss in the production of "Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park" (Hanna-Barbera, 1978). The item, which came from the estate of KISS producer Sean Delaney, will run between $2,000 and $3,000.
