KITTIE Members Near Scene Of Stabbing In New York City
June 15, 2006Canada.com is reporting that Canadian metal band KITTIE were staying at New York City's Edison Hotel Wednesday (June 14) when two other female guests at the hotel were stabbed by a knife-wielding man as they made their way through Times Square early the same day.
Police say the women were the final victims of a homeless man whose 13-hour rampage also saw him stab a tourist from Texas on a subway train and a local man waiting with a friend on subway platform.
Police arrested Kenny Alexis, 21, shortly after the 4:15 a.m. attack on Audrey Perrier, 25, and Melanie Carrier, 22, both of Montreal. Police have not identified a motive for the attacks.
"I was coming home at 2 a.m. It could have been us," said KITTIE drummer Mercedes Lander as she returned to the hotel with her sister Morgan, band singer.
''You feel safe when there is this many people around, but obviously anything can happen,'' Morgan added.
