LACUNA COIL's ANDREA FERRO Reports On U.S. Tour
January 5, 2007LACUNA COIL male singer Andrea Ferro has issued the following update:
"Here we go again, back to North America for more 'Karmacode' promotion...
"This time around we've done some different kind of touring (split in different sections). We started in the West Coast of the States as part of the 'Blackest Of The Black' package, invited by Mr. Glenn Danzig himself. The other bands featured were ASESINO, BELPHEGOR, THE HAUNTED. It's been a really good experience also because we have met again our party brothers Kenny and Johnny from TYPE O NEGATIVE (on duty with DANZIG) and they've let us listen to a couple of rough mixes from their upcoming new album 'Dead Again', really cool stuff 100% TON! The tour has also reached some places were we never played before like Spokane, Santa Cruz, Tucson, Fresno all of these shows have been amazing and the people reacted with awesome energy. The atmosphere of the tour was very relaxed and we've made a lot of new friends like Steve Zing (ex-SAMHAIN, bass for DANZIG),the guys in ASESINO, Dino Cazares, Tony and Emilio and also the other bands and crews, they were all really nice and friendly dudes. Since we were playing right before the headliner we had a lot of free time every day, the weather was great and we took many chances to walk around places. We've been to the Bodies exposition, the TENACIOUS D movie, Six Flags amusement park, Casinos in Las Vegas, Sickworld warehouse in San Diego (where we get a lot of funny t-shirts) not to mention the many shopping malls were we went crazy under the Christmas presents fever. On one of the aftershow nights, me and Cristina [Scabbia, vocals] had the chance to hang out with Glenn and we have discovered that he is a big comic-books collector and he got a lot of the Italian ones we grew up with. At the shows in Vegas and L.A. the original guitar player from MISFITS showed up and played a couple of songs with the guys and amongst the many guests we had Rob Zombie and Blasko with their ladies, Warrel and Jim from NEVERMORE, Big Dave and the crew from Ozzfest, it was a big pleasure to meet all those guys again. The next day in Santa Cruz, DANZIG cancelled the show ('cause their equipment got stolen in L.A.) and we had to step in as headliner for the last gig of the tour. Altogether a really cool experience! Straight after that, we drove again to Los Angeles and fly to Mexico for two headliner shows really packed with lots of people and a 'first-class' treatment. We hadn't played here since 2001 (when we opened for THEATRE OF TRAGEDY) and the crowd was really waitin' for us. The first day in Monterrey we did a signin' session that lasted two hours, in the end we had to run away with some crazy fans following us all over the streets grabbing our hairs and screaming, we've felt like >THE BEATLES in the '60s! In Mexico City the next day everything was in a rush and we haven't relaxed untill the aftershow, when the promoter took us to a traditional Mexican restaurant full of delicious food. Both shows were truly amazing and even if the technical conditions were not really appropiate the crowd just lifted us to a magical level. It's always incredible to see how much this people appreciate the fact that you are goin' overthere to play for them and how much fun they can have in a concert... Thanx again to the organizers for the great time! The day after we were already flyin' to the east coast of the States to start a two-week tour with our European buddies IN FLAMES. On the bill there were also two new and really interesting bands, THE SWORD and SEEMLESS, check them out! Most of the shows were fantastic and I was really surprised by how well the crowd of the two bands matched together. A special mention goes to the people in New Jersey and Canada where we had the wildest shows of the tour, even if I have to say that all of them were pretty exciting. In Cleveland we had a nice surprise when the guys from CHIMAIRA showed up and drunk some beers with us. The 'hot topic' of the tour has been the heavy nighttime jam-sessions with the videogame 'Guitar Hero II' a friendly affair between us and the Swedish.
"That has been it for our touring in 2006, I wanna personally thank all of the music fans that have showed up and shared their evenings with us, keeping rock music alive! There will be more to come in 2007 stay tuned and see ya all on the road again!!!"
