LACUNA COIL Singer Comments On DOWNLOAD Performance With APOCALYPTICA

June 18, 2008

LACUNA COIL vocalist Cristina Scabbia performed with Finnish cello quartet APOCALYPTICA at this year's Download festival on Sunday, June 15 at Donington Park, Leicestershire, UK and again the next day at this year's Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards at Indigo O2 in London. She has since posted the following message on her MySpace page:

"Bad timing for dislocating an ankle, I know, and right before not one but two important performances...within a weekend!

"Surely flying with a crutch is not the funniest thing on earth but if it brings you directly to the priority entrance at the airport it can't be too bad, right?

"It feels a little weird to be travelling without my family of LACUNA COIL...but I know they're supporting their sister and I have their blessing, so I'm ready to kick ass when I start my trip to the UK!

"I almost arrived late for the Download performance, as soon as I got stuck in traffic with my tour manager and manager, but we miraculously made it like 30 minutes before the show, when I was about ready to give up...

"We never practiced together with APOCALYPTICA and I had no monitors. The guys, as a a matter of fact, are using ear monitors and I just ...fucking hate to wear them, I can't get used to them, so when I tried to use them as well, after few seconds I just decided to take them off and listen to the music from the PAs outside....

"Despite of the risky situation I was THRILLED to see the APO guys again, and I already knew it was gonna be fun.

"And it was.

"I could see that the APOCALYPTICA guys' faces turning a little worried in the beginning of the song, just 'cause it was our very first live performance together and without practising!!!!! A little bit of tension... until the drums kicked in and the party started.

"The song went well and the whole show of them is beautiful and people love it.

"Thank you all who attended 'cause I was moved from the wonderful welcome you showed to me when I enter the stage. You've been adorably LOUD! Can't wait to be back in the UK in November on tour with BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, with my boys of LACUNA COIL."
