LUPARA: Former BROKEN HOPE Guitarist's New Band Ink Label Deal
January 11, 2006Former BROKEN HOPE and current LUPARA guitarist Jeremy Wagner has issued the following update:
"[LUPARA] spent 2005 doing amazing shows nearly every month, including the Monterrey Metalfest in Mexico, Louder-Harder-Faster Festival, and Midwest tour dates with OBITUARY, NAPALM DEATH, and DEAD TO FALL, among other concerts. It's been a killer runs! During that time we did our 2005 promo CD and it went out around the world, receiving positive reviews and accolades in Metal Hammer, Metal Maniacs, Hard As a Rock, and many others.
"Since November, we buckled down and began writing material for our debut album. We currently have been doing pre-production with around 12 new songs and plan on going into the studio in the next month or so to begin recording. After two months of negotiations, we have officially signed to a label who will do an official press release.
"In the past few weeks we had a couple special guests at our rehearsal/recording studio (Mercenary Digital). Allen West of OBITUARY was in town for the holidays, and we showcased a set of new LUPARA songs for him. After that, we played pool in our rec-room and Allen gave us his history in the Florida death metal scene. It was pretty cool. Seems like the guy has played with every well-known, Floridian death-metal figure at one point or another. Then Shaun Glass of SOIL [Jeremy's former BROKEN HOPE bandmate] dropped in the other day to check out our amps and he played us the new SOIL album in its entirety. It sounds fucking HUGE! There's a song on there featuring back-ups by Burton C. Bell of FEAR FACTORY, and the new SOIL singer, AJ, is simply amazing. Ryan who??????
"Other than that, I'm honored to have been added to the EMG pick-ups roster. I've been using their stuff for over 12 years now and it's great to be recognized by them. You can see the official roster at this location.
"Speaking of gear, I'll be attending NAMM again this year on behalf of ESP guitars. I'm heading out there with my friend/photographer (and neighbor) Chad Lee. It will be quite killer I'm sure."
