MALEVOLENT CREATION Name New Album

December 9, 2003

Florida death metal veterans MALEVOLENT CREATION have set "Warkult" as the title for their ninth full-length album, tentatively due in June 2004 through Nuclear Blast Records.

The follow-up to 2002's "The Will To Kill" will be recorded in February with producer Jean-Francois Degenais (KATAKLYSM, MISERY INDEX) and will coincide with the band's planned European summer festival appearances.

"As is [the case] with each MALEVOLENT CREATION album, our goal is to create the heaviest album we can and this album is no exception!" guitarist Phil Fasciana said in a press release.

Among the songtitles set to appear on "Warkult" are the following:

01. Murder Reigns
02. Dead March
03. Supremacy Through Annihilation
04. Merciless
05. On Grounds Of Battle

At least 10 songs will be recorded for "Warkult" plus a few covers from some obscure thrash metal bands, according to the press release. "First up is a cover from Australian cult band HOBBS ANGEL OF DEATH's song 'Crucifixion' from their debut album in 1988," Phil said. "Second up is a cover of at least one song from the 1986 four-song demo from Buffalo, NY thrash outfit LEVIATHAN. LEVIATHAN was fronted by vocalist Chris Barnes (SIX FEET UNDER, ex-CANNIBAL CORPSE) along with guitarist Jeff Juszkiewicz (ex-MALEVOLENT CREATION). MALEVOLENT CREATION and LEVIATHAN were the only thrash/death metal bands in Buffalo in '86/'87 and we were totally blown away when we heard their demo. They totally influenced us to being a better band and record our first demo in early '87. The band was amazing and all four songs kill on that demo, but we will at least record one song from that classic demo tape."

In other news, the band's upcoming hometown show at the Culture Room in Ft. Lauderdale on Dec. 14 will be filmed for a future DVD release.

Regarding the band's inability to land a proper U.S. tour, Fasciana said, "[the] truth is we have not been offered any good tours in the U.S. and we do not have a booking agent here. We did about 35 shows earlier this year in the States but missed out on the West Coast and other cool cities to invade. Hopefully this will change with the release of the new album 'Warkult' this summer through Nuclear Blast Records in the U.S. and everywhere else. We promise to do what we can to make a proper U.S. tour happen in 2004!!!"

Upcoming MALEVOLENT CREATION tour dates:

Dec. 13 - St. Petersburg, FL - Venom Nightclub
Dec. 14 - Ft. Lauderdale, FL - Culture Room
Jun. 18 - Osterode/Dorste, GER - Rock Harz Open Air Festival
