MANDY LION Calls TRACY G A 'Pretender', Says JAKE E. LEE Is 'The Real Deal'
November 14, 2003WWIII frontman Mandy Lion recently spoke to Pitriff.com about his collaboration with ex-OZZY OSBOURNE guitarist Jake E. Lee in WICKED ALLIANCE, a long-running project that that had recorded several acclaimed demos in the mid-'90s but never actually managed to complete a full-length album.
When asked if Jake E. Lee's seeming "disappearance" from the rock scene and lack of activity on the recording front was part of some role he is playing, Lion said, "No, I've got to tell you about Jake. When I broke up with [ex-WWIII/DIO guitarist] Tracy [G], it was a pretty bad breakup because he a very dishonest person. You know, he's a pretender in every single way, shape and form he could appear to you. Jake is the real deal. Like it or not, that's how he is. He's not interested in pleasing anybody. He's not interested, really, in talking to anybody. He doesn't care if anybody likes what he does -— not even the rest of his band members. On the one hand, I think he's one of the greatest artists of our time because people don't even have any idea how talented this guy is, because you only get to see a little tidbit of what he's capable of. On the other hand, I think he can be his own worst enemy because he's not willing to work with anybody. But no, he's not pretending. That's him. That's just him." Read the whole interview here.
