MASSACRE New Album Lyrical Themes Revealed
February 23, 2009Resurrected Florida-based death metallers MASSACRE have issued the following message:
"A few questions have come our way about what the lyrical direction and the material subject matter for the 'new' MASSACRE will be. I can tell you that for the most part — like on 'From Beyond' — the plan is to return to the source material created by gothic-horror author H.P. Lovecraft, as well as others such as August Derleth, Lin Carter, and even Brian Lumley. To mainly take influences from the Cthulhu Mythos and to keep the themes of Lovecraftian Horror. Anti-Anthropocentrism and misanthropy will play a key role in the overall themes. Curses and horrors contributed by the Unausspechilchen Kulten - the Namless Cults, as well as from the dreaded Necronomicon - the Book of the Dead. Monstrous tales of beings such as Baoht Z'ugga-Mogg, Zoth-Ommog, Tsanthoggua, Ythogtha, Ubb and Yugg/Yuggya, and Ghatanothoa. And such dreaded places such as Mount Yaddith-Gho in sunken Mu and the lost nightmare corpse city of R'lyeh. And about hell-spawn creatures of planarian origins — worms of the black earth and the blood siphoning tentacle madness of the mouthless Summanus. The things that where and shall be again... yet should not be. Ph'nglui mglw'nafh C'thulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!"
Regarding its decision to come back from the dead, the band recently stated, "Although Kam [Lee, vocals] has stated in the past that he was never sure if doing a new MASSACRE album could ever be possible, the demand from the fans worldwide for an all new MASSACRE album can no longer be ignored. Kam also has stated that he will return MASSACRE to its roots, returning to both the lyrical content and the musical style as set forth on the album 'From Beyond'.
"Several well-known and respected musicians (who also happen to be long-time MASSACRE fans themselves) have been approached to take part in this historical event. And once confirmed — they shall be revealed in time.
"For now — two new tracks that are being worked on for the album will be titled 'Back From Beyond' and 'Return of The Corpse Grinder'. More news to come."
A different version of MASSACRE — consisting of DENIAL FIEND members Sam Williams (guitar),Curt Beeson (drums; NASTY SAVAGE),along with ex-MASSACRE/DENIAL FIEND members Terry Butler (bass),Steve Swanson (guitars) and Kam Lee (vocals) — completed a European tour in late 2007.
