MATT SORUM Interviewed On Brazil's 'Wikimetal' (Audio)
April 20, 2012Brazil's Wikimetal podcast recently conducted an interview with former GUNS N' ROSES and current VELVET REVOLVER drummer Matt Sorum. You can now stream the podcast using the Mixcloud player below. (Note: The Sorum interview begins around the 10-minute mark.)
Although Sorum vowed to not speak about the band again to the press after it was inducted last Saturday (April 14) into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, he did drop one hint for the future. Sorum told VH1 Radio Network's Dave Basner that he is considering writing a screenplay about the band, explaining, "I've talked about doing a screenplay and that's actually something that I'm in talks about with a couple of pretty big people. The only problem with that is figuring out how to work out the music situation. But if you look at rock and roll movies, they've never been done right."
Sorum added why he thought a movie about GUNS N' ROSES would be compelling for viewers, saying, "The thing about GUNS N' ROSES that was different than all the butt rock bands in Hollywood was that it was down and dirty and punk rock and real . . . There was a much sort of more street, dark undercurrent happening that could be great on film."
The drummer cited THE DOORS and the Johnny Cash biopic "Walk The Line" as two movies about rock artists that were creatively successful.
Sorum, who joined GUNS in 1990 after the departure of founding drummer Steven Adler, was one of two later members inducted along with the original lineup last weekend in Cleveland.
Sorum, Adler, guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan were all at the ceremony to accept their induction, while singer Axl Rose, guitarist Izzy Stradlin and keyboard player Dizzy Reed did not attend.
