December 11, 2010

MEGADETH kicked off the "No Sleep Til" touring festival last night (Friday, December 10) at the ASB Showgrounds in Auckland, New Zealand.

The band's setlist was as follows:

01. Holy Wars... The Punishment Due
02. Hangar 18
03. Take No Prisoners
04. Five Magics
05. Poison Was the Cure
06. Lucretia
07. Tornado of Souls
08. Dawn Patrol
09. Rust in Peace... Polaris

Encore:

10. Head Crusher
11. Symphony Of Destruction
12. Peace Sells / Mechanix

Commented MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine: "What a great show it was last night! To be with the boys in the band again and to stand on New Zealand soil is always incredibly magical. I don't know why, but New Zealand has always had a certain savoir-faire that none of the other extremely far-away countries have. I fully understand why Peter Jackson chose here to film the 'Lord Of The Rings' trilogy here."

Fan-filmed footage of the concert can be viewed below.

MEGADETH is headlining six festival shows in New Zealand and Australia during December 10-19 as part of "No Sleep Til", a touring festival that delivers a mix of the best international and local acts from the legendary to the up-and-comers.

MEGADETH's "Rust In Peace Live" CD — which captures the final night of the band's historic month-long "Rust In Peace" 20th anniversary tour — sold around 3,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 161 on The Billboard 200 chart. Meanwhile, the DVD version of "Rust In Peace Live" shifted around 2,600 units to land at No. 3 on the Top Music Videos chart.
