February 27, 2009

Footage of a jam that took place at the 30th Anniversary Simon Phillips Retrospective concert during this year's NAMM (National Association Of Music Merchants) show — featuring guitarists Andy Timmons (OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN, DANGER DANGER) and Chris Broderick (MEGADETH, NEVERMORE, JAG PANZER),bassist Mike Szuter, drummer Simon Phillips and vocalist Robin McAuley (MSG, SURVIVOR) — can be viewed below.

The 30th Anniversary Simon Phillips Retrospective concert, which was held on January 15, 2009 at the Anaheim Marriott Ballroom F in Anaheim, California, was a celebration of the 30th anniversary of Simon Phillips' endorsement of Tama drums.

Stephanie Cabral of Yahoo! Music wrote about the performance, "For the first songs, they had a singer from a JUDAS PRIEST cover band decked out in full Rob Halford leathers that even fooled some buzzed fans in the back of the room. For the Michael Schenker songs, they had former MSG (MCAULEY SCHENKER GROUP) vocalist Robin McAuley make a grand entrance...well, it wasn't so grand. The poor man had a 'Spinal Tap' moment when he missed the last step on the stage and fell flat on his face. He recovered nicely at sang his ass off."

"Sinner" (JUDAS PRIEST):

"Dissident Aggressor" (JUDAS PRIEST):

"East Of Asteroids" (801)

"Armed And Ready" (MSG)
