Metal History Book 'Sound Of The Beast' Released In Finnish Translation

Johnny Kniga Publishing has released the Finnish translation of metal history book "Sound of the Beast: The Complete Headbanging History of Heavy Metal" by Ian Christe in hardcover. Titled "Pedon Meteli: Heavy Metallin Vanha Ja Uusi Testamentii", the translation was done by Jone Nikula, himself author of a book covering Finnish heavy metal.

"Translating a book isn't as simple as licensing an import CD, and just slapping a new company logo on the cover," says Christe. "The entire text basically has to be rewritten from scratch in the native language. I never know what to expect until I get the final book, but this time I was blown away. The edition is really deluxe, with a new sparkling jacket, a silver iron cross embossed on the actual book, lots of cool design touches, and the special extra pages at the front by Jone Nikula. Finland's metal has always been unique, from HANOI ROCKS and BEHERIT to IMPALED NAZARENE and AJATTARA. Hopefully these pages full of stories about EXODUS, CELTIC FROST, BATHORY, MORBID ANGEL, SABBATH, RAINBOW, and so on will inspire a few more Finnish metal masterpieces during the 23-hour days this summer."

"Sound of the Beast" is in second U.S. reprinting in paperback. Other translations include "Hollen-Larm" in German, "Dabluv Hlas" in Czech, and "El Sonido De La Bestia" in Spanish. A French edition is expected by the end of 2006. In addition, Christe's weekly "Bloody Roots" metal history show on Sirius Satellite Radio will celebrate its 100th episode this month.
