METALLICA Frontman Wishes 'St. Anger' Songs Were Shorter
September 30, 2004METALLICA frontman James Hetfield has told Launch Radio Networks that the past 16 months playing songs from the group's latest album, 2003's "St. Anger", has allowed him to gain some perspective on the effort, though he said his opinion of "St. Anger" hasn't changed much, and that he has mixed feelings about it. "Well, my hindsight is somewhat similar to what it was in the studio, which is I feel the songs were a little too long, and I wish they weren't that long," he said. "But, you know, live, when we play them, we can always shorten them."
"St. Anger" was METALLICA's first set of all-new material since 1997's "Reload". It was also the band's first album since 1999's "S&M" orchestral collaboration.
METALLICA expect to return to the studio next spring to begin recording their first album for Warner Bros.
