METALLICA's LARS ULRICH: "I Can't Wait To Hear DREAM THEATER's Rendition Of '...Puppets' "

March 1, 2002

METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich was totally psyched, enthusiastic and proud upon hearing about DREAM THEATER's live airing of METALLICA's entire Master Of Puppets CD at a recent Barcelona gig, according to a report posted at Encyclopedia Metallica. Ulrich reportedly called DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy in the days following the gig, and told the prog-rock sticksman that he couldn't wait to hear a recording of the showpresumably so that he could hear his drum parts actually reproduced properly in a live situation, for a change (just kidding, Lars please don't sue us!).

As previously reported, DREAM THEATER played a very special show at Razmatazz in Barcelona, Spain on February 19th consisting of the group performing all eight songs from METALLICA's Master Of Puppets CD while donning METALLICA T-shirts and sporting an improvised DREAM THEATER-logo'd Master of Puppets backdrop. Billed on DREAM THEATER's official website as a "VERY SPECIAL SHOW", the gig featured no opening act and was the second of DREAM THEATER's two-night stint at the venue.
