METALLICA's "performance coach" Phil Towle, a 65-year-old former psychotherapist who was brought into the picture in January 2001 to help James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett and Lars Ulrich repair their relationship with Jason Newsted, recently spoke to Red Symons of Australia's ABC about his time spent with the band, and the universal issues that confront any group as they work to fulfill their creative and professional ambitions while exploring the complexities of human relations.
