METALLICA Yet To Select RAMONES Cover For Tribute CD
June 3, 2002Despite rumors to the contrary, METALLICA have yet to select a song to cover for the upcoming RAMONES tribute album, entitled either Ramones Forever or We're A Happy Family (depending on the source). Here is an update on the situation, as posted earlier today via METALLICA's official web site at www.metallica.com:
"METALLICA is in the studio working on their new record, and as rumored on other sites, it's true that they are also working on a track to contribute to the upcoming RAMONES tribute record. When Kirk was asked by his friend Johnnny Ramone if the band would do a song, the 'yes' part of the answer was easy. Now comes the hard part — picking a song! They guys have jammed on eight songs, narrowed it down to four, but still haven't made the final decision yet. No, they won't tell us what the front runners are - we'll just have to get back to you after they pick one."
Both Metallica.com and METALLICA's Fan Club web site, www.metclub.com, have included a new image of the band (with Bob Rock) recording "gang" vocals. MetClub.com has another four new pictures taken on May 22nd during the recording sesions for the upcoming album — featuring Bob Rock on bass, the documentary crew hard at work, and James Hetfield sporting the glasses he wore at the MTV AEROSMITHIcon program.
