METALLICA's KIRK HAMMETT Drops $2 Million From Asking Price Of San Francisco Home
July 11, 2017According to Curbed San Francisco, METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett has dropped two million from the asking price of his house in Sea Cliff, a neighborhood in northwestern San Francisco, California.
Hammett put the home on the market last December for $16 million, but that price came down to $14 million this past February.
Hammett's name apparently does not appear on the deed for the Spanish Colonial-style home, which last sold in 2010 for $8 million. When you adjust for inflation, that itself was roughly double its 2003 sale price of $3.1 million.
The four-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bathroom, three-story house is said to be the fourth most expensive, publicly listed home in the entire city.
Back in 2009, Hammettsold a home in Pacific Heights for $7.6 million after owning it for sixteen years. He bought that 8-bedroom, 8.5-bathroom, 10,100-square-foot, four-story mansion in 1993 for a mere $2.56 million.
Asked by Atlanta, Georgia's Rock 100.5 radio station if it ever gets old being a millionaire, Hammett responded: "You know, it just comes with a whole bunch of different problems, bro. And you know what? I'm not very good with saving money. [I spend it on] comic books and movie posters and horror stuff and guitars. I live my life. I just fucking live my life. And I'm generous. The people who are around me experience what I'm experiencing while I'm experiencing it."
METALLICA has just resumed its first North American tour in more than seven years.
The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame band is touring in support of its tenth studio album, "Hardwired... To Self-Destruct", which came out last November, eight years after "Death Magnetic".
