MORBID ANGEL Frontman: 'There Is No Better Feeling Than Going Out And Entertaining People'
July 18, 2012Noisography conducted an interview with bassist/vocalist David Vincent of Florida death metal legends MORBID ANGEL at the first annual charity metal event Spread The Metal Festival, which took place July 5-6 in Halifax, Canada. You can now watch the chat below.
"I live to do what I do. I don't think that it's a choice to do it, I think it's a calling, it's like a vocation," Vincent said during the interview. "There is no better feeling than going out and entertaining people and being able to take their minds off the doldrum day-to-day for just even a moment and putting a smile on their face. Now having said that, what we do, it's difficult, it's a lot of work, and we attack it tirelessly and with great effort, because it's what we do, it's who we are as people. So we get up there and it's always important, to me, to stand on that stage and give 100 percent of what I have, all the time."
He continued, "How I define a good time is when we play music and people appreciate it. It's not how big of a venue it is, it's not where the venue is located necessarily, it's how many friends we have in the audience and how much we're able to give them MORBID ANGEL."
MORBID ANGEL recently announced that it will play a set of "all-time classic songs" on it upcoming European tour with KREATOR, NILE and FUELED BY FIRE, which kicks off on November 1 in Antwerp, Belgium.
On February 24 (February 28 in North America),Season of Mist released a compilation of remixed tracks from MORBID ANGEL's latest album, "Illud Divinum Insanus". Far from being just revamped versions of the seminal extreme metal band's newest songs, this collection presents the work of 39 artists from the electro / industrial, techno and club scene.
MORBID ANGEL's latest album, "Illud Divinum Insanus", sold around 3,600 copies in the United States in its first week of release to enter The Billboard 200 chart at position No. 141. The effort marks MORBID ANGEL's first CD to feature bassist/vocalist David Vincent since 1995's "Domination".
