MOUNTAIN's LESLIE WEST: OZZY Is More Talented Than People Give Him Credit For
March 26, 2003Electricbasement.com recently spoke with MOUNTAIN founder, guitarist and frontman Leslie West about their new DVD, "Mystic Sea", as well as the legendary hard rock band's history. West spoke about touring with BLACK SABBATH in the early '70s, specifically his relationship with Ozzy Osbourne. "Ozzy is really a very dear friend of mine," he said. "I mean, we must have done a hundred shows with them when they first started and we spent an awful lot of time together. All of the guitar players that he has played with, Tony Iommi and Randy Rhoads, they were all dear friends of mine. People give Ozzy a lot of shit, but Ozzy can sing. I heard one track the other day when I was hosting this show on VH1 called 'Metal Mania' and I picked some of his shit to do and there is this one ballad that he did with Lita Ford, I mean this guy can sing. Forget about all of the drugs and the other things, this guy is really talented. People just don't realize how talented this guy is." Read the entire interview here.
