NAPALM DEATH: Cover Of THE OFFENDERS Classic Posted Online
October 4, 2007According to posting on the MySpace page for the legendary hardcore/punk band MDC (MILLIONS OF DEAD COPS),the group's former bassist Mikey "Offender" Donaldson passed away in his sleep on September 22 in Barcelona, Spain where he had recently relocated from Amsterdam. The cause is unknown at the moment. He was 46.
Mikey Donaldson was the bass player for Austin punk band THE OFFENDERS from 1978 to 1986. He recorded bass tracks on MDC's groundbreaking effort "Millions of Dead Cops" and D.R.I.'s "Dealing With It" as well as played and recorded with Gary Floyd (DICKS) and Lynn Perko (IMPERIAL TEEN) in SISTER DOUBLE HAPPINESS.
To pay tribute to this truly special musician and person, NAPALM DEATH has posted its cover of THE OFFENDERS classic "Face Down in the Dirt" at this location.
Commented NAPALM DEATH bassist Shane Embury: "THE OFFENDERS were one of my all-time favorite hardcore bands, the bass intro to 'Face Down in the Dirt' is a classic to this day. Mikey will be missed."
"Face Down in the Dirt" was taken from NAPALM DEATH's "Leaders Not Followers: Part 2" collection (2004).
