NAPALM DEATH: Shane Embury Health Update

February 19, 2002

NAPALM DEATH bassist Shane Embury has spoken out following a recent bout with the flu that left him hospitalized in Germany while the rest of the group carried on with their European tour as a four-piece. According to Embury, for a start, I didn't collapse. The flu thing has been bugging me for a bit, but basically Scandinavia kicked my ass, I should have calmed down when we reached Oslo, but instead went full steam ahead with the DIMMU [BORGIR] boys drinking like a mad man and then on through Gothenburg and Copenhagen, resulting in feeling pretty bad the first German show, But not that bad. Woke up next day with serious stomach complaints and went into hospital... I am not gonna go into any more detail as much to say that I think my days of consuming alcohol may be at an endbummer, really, but I always said when the end came, it wasn't going to be pretty. I have just got to get myself back into shape. I don't feel too bad now, but I have a lot of work ahead with both my bands. I would like to apologize to all the German fans for not making the shows. I am really sorry. I guess I was in self-destruct mode for awhile. Thanx for the kind words from everyone. We are about to start work on the new NAPALM album and will see you on tour very soon with LOCKUP. Take care and all the best, Shane
