NIGHTWISH Touring Vocalist Sings Classical Piece For Dutch TV Program

December 2, 2012

Acclaimed Dutch vocalist Floor Jansen (NIGHTWISH, AFTER FOREVER, REVAMP) sang a version of the song "Oh, Mio Babbino Caro" by classical music composer Giacomo Puccini for "Tiende Van Tijl", a show about classical music presented by Tijl Beckand. Floor says, "They invite 'pop singers' to sing a classical piece. And even though I studied classical singing, I am not a opera singer full time."

She added, "It was great to do again. I did their trailer a few years ago as well and now the shows on TV a lot, it's really nice to be invited again. It was on a short notice, however, so I had no time to prepare a new aria. I wore a dress you would normally not see me wear!"

Jansen's appearance on "Tiende Van Tijl" was taped late last month and will air on January 2, 2013.

Floor made her live debut as the frontwoman of NIGHTWISH on October 1 at Showbox Sodo in Seattle, Washington.

Jansen is handling lead-vocal duties on all of NIGHTWISH's currently scheduled tour dates after the group parted ways with Anette Olzon at the end of September.
