NIKKI SIXX Taking SIXX A.M. On Tour

November 9, 2007

The Pulse of Radio reports: MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx will head out on the road in early February with his new side project, SIXX A.M. According to Harddrive Radio, a tour will begin on February 1, although dates, cities and other acts on the bill have yet to be finalized. SIXX A.M. will be touring in support of its "soundtrack" album to Sixx's recently published book, "The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star". The group's only live show so far took place on October 25 as part of a Halloween-themed radio festival in West Valley City, Utah.

Sixx initially told The Pulse of Radio that he was reluctant to go on tour with SIXX A.M. "There's really been some very cool bands throughout history that have made amazing music and haven't always toured," he said. "I don't know whether we'll tour or we'll do shows or what. This band is really talented. We can do acoustic shows, we can do special events, but to actually go out and tour it, I don't know. I'm open, but I don't know."

Twenty-five percent of Sixx's royalties from "The Heroin Diaries" goes to Running Wild In The Night, a charity he established in conjunction with Covenant House to rescue homeless and runaway youth from the streets.

Sixx recorded the album with fellow musicians James Michael and D.J. Ashba.

As previously reported, Sixx has spoken out about drummer Tommy Lee's recent departure from the CRÜE. Sixx told the London Paper, "He's out of the band, that's just the way it is. Tommy Lee kept fucking around and I said, 'You know what dude, you've got to knock it off.' He said, 'I fucking quit.'I said, 'Fine. I still love you but I don't have time for this.'"

Lee allegedly left the group over legal, financial and management disputes, although he issued a statement in September denying that he had officially exited and stating his hope that the band could "work out" their differences.
