NIRVANA 'Reader: 1988 - 1992' Chronicles Trio's Meteoric Rise
November 7, 2008Few can argue that NIRVANA defined rock as we now know it. From its infancy to its meteoric rise and ultimate legacy, "The Nirvana Reader: 1988 - 1992" (Rock Reader Books) will celebrate one of the most beloved and sadly missed bands ever in print form when it hits shelves on January 5, 2009.
Collecting rare interviews and long out of print articles, this project was compiled and edited by award-winning music journalist John D. Luerssen ("Rivers' Edge: The Weezer Story") for his newly launched Rock Reader Books imprint.
Rock Reader Books, in conjunction with Lulu.com, will allow fans to revisit the essential and in many cases rarely seen articles that accompanied Kurt Cobain, Chris Novoselic and Dave Grohl on their ascent from an underground trio to the self-professed "flower-sniffin', kitty-pettin', baby-kissin' corporate rock whores," and, ultimately, the icons that defined modern rock and roll.
"There have been way too many NIRVANA books," laughs Luerssen. "So what gives me the right to put 'The Nirvana Reader' together? Well, for one thing, I'm tired of the conjecture. I'm sick of the conspiracy theories, and I really just wanted to go back to the start and read about the band as they evolved during the first four years."
