No METALLICA — Just Child Porn
July 16, 2003An Australian university student who said he believed he had received photos of METALLICA in his email — but who had, in fact, been sent child pornography — was given an 18-month suspended sentence in a Perth court, according to NEWS.com.au.
Despite being found guilty of possessing the photographs, Matthew Bounds, 22, claimed he never opened the files and had no idea what was in them.
District Court Judge Michael Muller said there was no evidence Bounds received the material with an intention to distribute it.
Bounds was found guilty six weeks ago of possessing 105 child pornographic images and 11 indecent and obscene images, and was in custody until his sentencing yesterday.
The charges carry a maximum five years in prison.
