No New NAPALM DEATH Album Before Late 2018, Says BARNEY GREENWAY
September 17, 2017Vocalist Mark "Barney" Greenway of British extreme metal legends NAPALM DEATH was recently interviewed by Australia's Sticks For Stones. You can now listen to the chat below.
Asked about the recent revelation on the NAPALM DEATH Facebook page that the band was back at Parlour Studios in Kettering, Northamptonshire, England recording its next album, Greenway said: "This is one of the, I say, problems in small letters with social media sometimes. As soon as you put a post like that, people just kind of think — understandably so — that you've got a [bunch] of new songs ready to go. Well, we haven't. It's very preliminary stages. I mean, basically, we're at the point where Shane [Embury, bass] went into the studio with Danny [Herrera, drums] and basically laid a load of stuff down that he'd been thinking of doing. So there may be some material that never sees the light of day. I just don't know, 'cause I haven't actually heard it yet. I've got the stuff, but I haven't actually sat down and listened to it yet. So there's nothing approaching any complete songs. And the reality is that it won't even surface probably till later next year, I would have thought. So it's gonna be a while yet."
Greenway recently told Metal Wani that NAPALM DEATH guitarist Mitch Harris, who has been taking a leave of absence from the band since late 2014 to focus on his family life, will "most likely" play on the group's next album.
Harris took an indefinite break in the fall of 2014 to tend to a family situation and Wikipedia initially wrongly scrubbed him from the band roster. He has since been temporarily replaced by John Cooke (CORRUPT MORAL ALTAR).
NAPALM DEATH's last album, "Apex Predator - Easy Meat", was released in January 2015 via Century Media Records.
