NY Daily News: LINKIN PARK Relies On The Worst Musical Cliches
March 25, 2003Jim Farber of the New York Daily News reviewed LINKIN PARK's new album "Meteora" and appeared unimpressed. "The group not only has failed to progress significantly, its album relies on what have became the genre's worst cliches. Each cut finds the group crooning, rapping and shouting in nearly the same order and ratio. It's as if they were following some unquestioned edict: Sing, rhyme, yell, repeat . . . For window dressing, LINKIN PARK did manage to work in a few new tricks this time. Several songs include either drum-n-bass beats, a live piano or a string section. But you know you're in trouble when your idea of a major innovation is to employ, in one track, a pan flute (paging Zamfir). There is one bit of good news in all this: The album isn't long. After just over 36 minutes, the tedium comes to an end." Read the whole review here.
LINKIN PARK's "Meteora" hits the stores today (March 25) via Warner Bros. Records.
