OBITUARY Drummer Talks About His 'Metal Meowlisha' Charity, Band's Future Plans

"Metal Detector" podcast recently conducted an interview with drummer Donald Tardy of Florida death metal veterans OBITUARY. During the chat, which can be streamed using the audio player below, Tardy talks about his animal rescue shelter, his love of cats, and what the upcoming year holds for OBITUARY.

Donald Tardy and his wife Heather operate their own Metal Meowlisha charity. The couple cares for 130 stray and feral cats.

The duo steadfastly adheres to the practice of "trap/neuter/return" and advocates spaying and neutering to control the overrun of felines in their region. The TNR policy is endorsed by the ASPCA since it is a humane and effective way to control the cat population, and the Tardys fully support the method.

OBITUARY is currently writing material for the follow-up to the "Darkest Day" full-length CD, released in 2009 via Candlelight Records.

"Darkest Day" landed at position No. 32 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
