OBITUARY Frontman: 'There Is No Excuse' For Cancelled London Show
January 12, 2006OBITUARY frontman John Tardy has posted the following message on the group's official web site:
"The only thing I can do is apologize for missing that London show. I know that many of you travel long distances at great expense to make it to that show and we missed it. For that I am deeply sorry and literally sick to my stomach to think about what happened!
"What the fuck happened? Bottom line: our work permits never made it and we were detained at customs for 10 hours before being sent back to Amsterdam!
"How does this happen? To be honest, I am still not sure who dropped the ball, at what should have been one of the best and biggest shows of the tour our work permits do not show up. How between the promoter, booking agent and management this wasn't worked out months ago, I have no idea! THERE IS NO EXCUSE!!!!
"I would like to reschedule that show right now, but I am not sure if that will be possible. The one thing I can tell you is that (England),we owe you one and we will be back!!! With as many emails as I got before the tour not only will we be back but we will do more than one show in the U.K.!
"After all we have been through is the last few days I was ready to kick someone's ass and Ireland got to feel that Monday! What an awesome show and as usual our Irish fans came out in force. Thank you very much for all your support!
"Today we are headed to France for what I know will be crazy show at the La' Locomotive in Paris! We are looking forward to seeing you all tonight!
"Hopefully the worst is behind us now and we can get back in the groove! I wish I could have been in touch with all of you sooner about the London show but this is the first I have seen my computer in three days, not to mention being separated from our bus, I have been wearing the same clothes for those three days. I also need to thank SAMAEL and MAROON for going on with the show in London without us. I wish we could have been there."
OBITUARY are touring in support of their latest CD, "Frozen in Time", which was released in July 2005 via Roadrunner Records. The group's first collection of new songs since 1997's "Back from the Dead" was self-produced by the band, with Mark Prator and Scott Burns engineering, and was mastered by Tom Morris at Morrisound.
