OBITUARY: Scumbags Like JACK KOSHICK Must Be Stopped!
August 23, 2004Reunited death metal legends OBITUARY have sent the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET regarding their dealings with well-known heavy metal concert promoter Jack Koshick (Milwaukee Metalfest, March Metal Meltdown):
"Well, after seeing a few bands post about getting screwed by Jack Koshick we have decided to go public with our case against Koshick.
"We first heard about the Sun & Steel festival from friends and fans of ours who said there was a rumor we were going to do this festival. Jack approached us about doing the show and was very accommodating to our fee. So we agreed. A few weeks later again there [was] a rumor that we [were] also doing the New Jersey Metal Meltdown. Jack soon approached us and we agreed on a flat fee for both shows.
"When we arrived at the Sun & Steel show it was a typical Koshick disaster (too many bands and very much unorganized). Our agreement was to get paid prior to our performance and 15 minutes before we went on he had very little cash for us. We threatened to cancel our performance and he offered to give us a check for the full amount of both shows so we agreed. When we arrived in New Jersey our bank contacted us and said his check bounced. So at this point we were definitely going to cancel this show. He pleaded with us and we refused but after a lot of thought we decided to play. It was not fair to the many fans that came out to the show to see us after not playing in over 7 years. So for the fans we decided to play. Jack promised to send us money and pay us in full but he wouldn't even return our calls.
"This is what kills these festivals and we must put a stop to scumbags like this. We warn all bands or anyone doing business with Koshick… BEWARE!!!"
Any other bands that have past dealings (good or bad) with Jack Koshick that wish to speak out about their experiences, drop us a line.
