OPIATE FOR THE MASSES: Burning It Down On Video
April 30, 2008OPIATE FOR THE MASSES is a new breed of rock decadence, emerging from Los Angeles. Their music is a dynamic blend of ALICE IN CHAINS and NINE INCH NAILS all the swagger with the chops to back it up! They are releasing their Century Media debut, "Manifesto", on July 8, 2008.
Shooting the video for their first single from "Manifesto", "Burn You Down", in Los Angeles recently, the band got into some steamy situations, as you will see from the photos that can be seen at this location.
Jim Kaufman (guitars) comments on the shoot: "Shooting the video for 'Burn You Down' was one of the coolest things OPIATE FOR THE MASSES has have ever done. David Brodsky's (HELMET, ALL AMERICAN REJECTS, THE RED CHORD, 12 TRIBES) direction and cinematography seamlessly fit in with the vigor of the song and the band. The shoot took place on a special a special effects lot in Burbank, and we had a f**#ing blast! Divided into two specific scenes, the verses and the choruses, David hit both locations and vibes right on the head. In the verses, we are set up in the corner of a rundown looking warehouse. The vibe of the verses matched perfectly. The choruses of the song hit abruptly and HARD!! For these scenes, we moved to our full stage rig, set up outside around a ring of fire, pyrotechnics, a 20-foot jib, and about a 15-person safety crew. It was HOT! And not just like the way Paris Hilton would mean it. It had to get up to about 120 during most of the outside shooting (we would know we grew up in Phoenix). There were explosions and cameras shooting us through five-foot flames, AWESOME. Again, working with David Brodsky was an honor and we all look forward to showing this piece of art to the world."
OPIATE FOR THE MASSES will head out on the road with FILTER starting on May 20 in Atlanta, GA.
