"Earlier this year, March to be precise, Ozzy Osbourne joined us to talk about his box set 'The Prince of Darkness'. The four-CD set was released to celebrate Ozzy's 25 years as a solo artist. At once compelling and bizarre, the collection includes Osbourne's best solo material punctuated by some stirring live performances featuring Randy Rhoads. Conversely, it includes some of the most unusual duets in the history of rock, including songs with MISS PIGGY, DWEEZIL ZAPPA, WU-TANG CLAN, ODB, CRYSTAL METHOD and more. The highlight disc for most however, was that comprised of new cover songs Ozzy did with a rock-solid band spearheaded by guitarist Jerry Cantrell. The Oz picked some of his favorite songs by MOUNTAIN, KING CRIMSON, MOTT THE HOOPLE, THE ROLLING STONES, JOHN LENNON and more and put his stylistic touch on them.
"Ozzy wasn't too thrilled to do this box set; it took some coaxing from Sharon and the inclusion of the new and unusual material to get him to sign off on it. But, ultimately he did and the results may be heard on this show along with Ozzy's sometimes hysterical comments. These days he may be closer to being the prince of comedy than anything approaching darkness. Also discussed was the then impending 10th anniversary of Ozzfest, the conclusion of his TV show, 'The Osbournes', which featured a visit from Dr. Phil and lots more. It's a night of fantastic music, great calls and the wit and wisdom of the clown prince of rock and roll."
