PAIN Collaborate With BRITNEY SPEARS, BACKSTREET BOYS Producer On New Single
January 23, 2002Sweden's PAIN, led by HYPOCRISY mainman Peter Tagtgren, have collaborated with mega-producer Max Martin (aka Martin Sandberg—i.e. BRITNEY SPEARS, BACKSTREET BOYS, CELINE DION) and Per Aldeheim (i.e. DEF LEPPARD, LAMBRETTA) on the second single from the group's just-released third CD, Nothing Remains The Same. Entitled “Just Hate Me”, the track—which was co-written by Martin/Aldeheim and produced by Aldeheim—was not included on the original advance copies of Nothing Remains The Same that were distributed several months back, and is said to feature a much “more commercial” direction than the rest of the album's material. Seemingly unlikely choices to assume the songwriting duties for a band like PAIN, Martin and Aldeheim have a hard rock background, with the duo having previously played in IT'S ALIVE, a Stockholm-based funk-rock hybrid that made its presence in the early '90s, as well as having previously produced the debut album from ABSTRAKT ALGEBRA (in the case of Aldeheim) and having contributed material to DRAIN STH, among others (in the case of Martin). Peter is currently working with director Mikeadelica (who'd previously directed the clips for PAIN's “End Of The Line”, “Suicide Machine” and “Shut Your Mouth”) for a video to accompany the aforementioned cut, which will reportedly be “larger than anything seen so far. Robots, atomic submarines, distorted images and cutting-edge technique is promised. The video will take approximately four months to complete.”
