PERRY FARRELL Presents Precision Guided Musicians Art Basel Miami Beach and PGM Art Grant
November 17, 2010JANE'S ADDICTION frontman Perry Farrell will head south to Miami in December during Art Basel Miami Beach, a cultural and social highlight for the art world and the most important art show in the United States. There he will present a one-of-a-kind experience with Precision Guided Musicians (PGM). Set for Thursday, December 2 in conjunction with Lorraine Lamont of Lola Ink Media, the PGM Art Project at Bardot is an invite-only event to kick off Art Basel Miami Beach and to celebrate the launch of the PGM Art Project Grant.
After the exhibitions and galleries have closed, the evening's entertainment will culminate the PGM Art Project event at Bardot featuring a performance by PERRY-ETTY VS. CHRIS COX (Farrell and his wife and musical collaborator Etty Farrell vs. Chris Cox) and special guests to be announced. Inspired by the revolution in nightclubs between the 1920s (Berlin Cabarets) and the 1960s (London Rock Bars),downtown Miami's Bardot is a meeting place where service is paramount and privacy guaranteed, where beauty in every form is nurtured and the unexpected is to be expected, thus making it the ideal spot for the Miami installment of PGM. On Wednesday, December 1, prior to the PGM event, Perry and Etty Farrell will host an intimate VIP dinner at South Beach art deco hotspot Townhouse served by Bondst, executive chef Mike Hiraga's sleek sushi restaurant.
In the spirit of the week's festivities, Farrell and Garrett Chau have created the PGM Art Project Grant whose recipient will receive $7,000 and whose artwork will be displayed at future PGM events. Lola Ink Media will book a gallery series for the artist in major markets such as Los Angeles and New York City. Starting today, Tuesday, November 16, all street and fine artists are encouraged to apply for the PGM Art Project Grant by submitting a 300 DPI Hi-Res scan of artwork along with their contact information to: [email protected].
Precision Guided Musicians is a contemporary music-based project that transcends the barriers between art, technology and music. The project created by Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell is providing an art grant, gallery series and music festivals. Artists should maintain the honor, intelligence and might of music: articulate musical techniques and its ability to destroy bad moods and bring peace upon planet earth. The idea is to challenge/subvert the concept of precision guided munitions aka smart bombs: imagine "the military being used for peace and entertainment." The grant recipient will be chosen by Farrell and a selection of art experts in spring of 2011. Further details will be revealed in the coming weeks.
