PHILIP ANSELMO Says New SUPERJOINT RITUAL Album Will Contain All 'Fresh' Ideas

December 30, 2003

SUPERJOINT RITUAL frontman Philip Anselmo recently spoke to MetalRefuge.com about the group's upcoming third album, tentatively due next fall through Sanctuary Records. "This newer record that's not out yet will be even more in place [than the previous ones], so to speak," he said. "It will make a lot of sense. Every song will be 100% fresh, and not come from '94 and '95 [laughs] or anything like that. I don't have anything hidden in the bag or anything. It's gonna come all fucking fresh. I'm really, really looking forward to that. I've been sitting on ideas for hardcore heavy metal songs for so long. I finally get to exercise them. So I'm definitely looking forward to that."

Asked if he misses his former bandmates in PANTERA, Anselmo said "Uhh… I miss the good times, yeah! Absolutely! Sure! I miss [bassist] Rex [Brown] a lot. He's a fuckin' A-plus fuckin' down-to-earth real motherfucker. As far as the brothers [Vinnie and Dime] go, they're super talented musicians, [pause and heavy sigh] and I always enjoyed playing music with them. So yeah, those were some good times man, you know?" As previously reported, SUPERJOINT RITUAL are currently taking a break from touring to write the music for the follow-up to this year's "A Lethal Dose Of American Hatred". According to a post on the band's web site, plans exist for the group to head back out on the road in America and Europe in March.
