'Philip Lynott: Renegade Of Thin Lizzy' Book Author Interviewed On CORK RADIO (Audio)
December 17, 2012Cork Radio recently conducted an interview with Alan Byrne, author of the new book "Philip Lynott: Renegade Of Thin Lizzy", which charts Phil Lynott's musical infancy on the Dublin music scene of the 1960s until his premature death in 1986. It spotlights the musical juggernaut that was THIN LIZZY in their prime and Lynott's subsequent dalliances with other artists outside of the band from the mid-Seventies onward. Fresh new interviews with friends, family and colleagues reveal the depths of his creativity, his insecurity and ultimately his failure to commit to anything or anyone outside of his own burning desires for musical greatness.
"Philip Lynott: Renegade Of Thin Lizzy" revisits some of the territory covered by Byrne in his previous band biography, "Thin Lizzy: Soldiers Of Fortune" (2004),but through interviews with friends, musicians and associates outside the THIN LIZZY circle.
"I was eager to take in different perspectives, such as Tex Reid, a roadie for GENESIS, who shared a place with Phil for about six years," said Alan. "I've also spoken to some of the people who were with him when his kids were born, so it's quite a different picture."
Byrne has been researching and writing about the careers of THIN LIZZY and Lynott since 1998. Byrne has also produced radio documentaries on various aspects of Lynott's career and has contributed to Classic Rock and a variety of other publications. He is also working on his first novel.
"Philip Lynott: Renegade Of Thin Lizzy", published by Mentor Books, is available from IrishBooksDirect.ie for €13.49.
