Photo Agent Sues MANOWAR's Management Company For 'False Imprisonment', 'Attempted Extortion'
May 12, 2010Eriq Gardner of The Hollywood Reporter reports that the agent representing a photographer who was hired to do a MANOWAR shoot has filed a $5 million lawsuit in New York Supreme Court against the music management company that is run by the band's bassist, Joey DeMaio. In the complaint, Yasha Young says she represents Annie Bertram, who was contracted by Magic Circle Films, a music management company that the complaint indicates "Joey de Majo" (sic) is the president of.
Young says when she arrived in Germany to discuss photos and a "wider collaboration" with MANOWAR, she was met by Joey's "bodyguard," who ushered her into a taxi that took her to a "seedy, out-of-the-way hotel." Another "bodyguard" brought her to a room and the original "bodyguard" was told to leave. There, she claims she was told she owed the company $25,000 and was instructed to write a check on the spot.
