PRIMAL FEAR Guitarist Doesn't Understand JUDAS PRIEST Comparisons
March 2, 2004PRIMAL FEAR guitarist Stefan Leibing recently told ElectricBasement.com that he doesn't agree with some people's suggestion that they should be concerned that Rob Halford rejoining JUDAS PRIEST will steal their thunder, "Yeah. We appreciate that Rob Halford is back in the band," Stefan said. "Many people say, 'Oh, aren't you afraid that the JUDAS PRIEST reunion will have an effect on your career?' but we don't think so. To be honest, we don't actually understand so much this comparison with JUDAS PRIEST. The only thing, I think personally, is that the voice of Ralf [Scheepers] is a little bit similar to Rob Halford. OK, you can see the roots our roots are also JUDAS PRIEST, but the music is different, more modern."
With regards to the reason PRIMAL FEAR's U.S. tour with HALFORD got cancelled last year, Leibing said, "the HALFORD management was upset by sales — they expected every concert to be sold out. The concerts were well visited, but not sold out, so they cancelled everything. We had a lot of costs [on the tour]." Read the whole interview here.
