RAGING SPEEDHORN Singer Tells Court Of Brutal Attack

RAGING SPEEDHORN singer John Loughlin testified in a U.K. court that he tried to defend a young fan as she was attacked by thugs in a Cambridge car park, according to Cambridge News Online.

Loughlin said he and victim Laura Elder, 19, were set upon outside the Junction in Clifton Road where his band had just played a gig.

Despite his attempts to fend off the attack, Elder was kicked in the face and had her jaw fractured in two places.

A jury at Norwich Crown Court on Wednesday took just two hours to find Anthony Ellis, 21, of Kendal Way, Chesterton, guilty of violent disorder.

Loughlin told the court he had been talking to Elder outside the club at about 11:40 p.m. on January 22 when three men came towards them.

He said: "I grabbed the men and pushed them away but they came towards me. I knew they were getting ready for a fight.

"There were fists and feet everywhere. I was hit in the jaw. The kicks were higher than my head — such as in kick-boxing. I had bruising to the side of my face and my teeth were bleeding.

"I managed to get help from the bouncers and they ran off."

Elder's friend, Sarah Green, 18, told how she too was attacked and knocked over by a blow to the side of her neck. She remembered seeing Laura crying and holding her mouth. There was blood in her mouth and on her hands.

Ellis, who has previous convictions for affray, burglary, theft and assaulting a police officer, chose not to give evidence in his defense.

He was remanded in custody until July 4 when he is due to be sentenced along with two other men, James Wilkes, 20, of Peverel Road, and Patrick Malloy, 18, of Catharine Street, who have already admitted violent disorder on the same day.
