Rare BLACK SABBATH Vinyl Being Auctioned On eBay

September 14, 2006

According to a posting on the Ozzyhead.com web site, eBay seller "sabbotaged" has some very rare BLACK SABBATH vinyl up for grabs:

* An extremely rare, South African 10" acetate featuring "Evil Woman" on both sides. Side B boasts an alternate version of the cover song without Tony Iommi's guitar. "sabbotaged" is asking $699.99 for this item. You can view the auction here.

* A rare 7" Warner Brothers acetate featuring "War Pigs" on both sides. This most likely was a test printing for the next single to be released from "Paranoid". Again, the seller is asking $699.99 for this item as well. You can view that auction here.

Acetate vinyl records are highly collectible. They are aluminum-based discs coated with a special lacquer. The reference acetate is very similar to the master lacquer that is used to manufacture records and is cut on the same lathe. Acetate coating is very soft and is subject to wear far more quickly than a vinyl pressing.
